Treehouse Kids

A Worship Service for children ages 3-10.

The goal of Treehouse Kids is lead children in worship of God.  In order to accomplish this, children participate in a variety of activities.

  • The first thing children do during a Treehouse Kids service is to meet with a small group.  This time is structure to help children prepare for worship.  Leaders introduce visitors, give children the opportunity to share about their week, their interests, fears and concerns, hopes and dreams, etc. in order to help children get comfortable with one another.  During this time leaders also prepare the children for upcoming worship time by defining language central to the theme of the service.  Words like Savior, faith, grace, restitution, etc. are Central to understanding the faith, but often have never really been defined.

  • After the Bible lesson, and Creative teaching time, students meet again with their break-out group.  During this session, leaders check comprehension of the theme, answer any questions the children might have, and help children to make personal application of the principles they have been taught.  Leaders also often give children a chance to respond to the message they have heard by praying a prayer of repentance, confessing sin, expressing spiritual goals, etc.

  • Authentic worship through music and dance is difficult.  It is a lot of fun to sing and dance, and so it is easy to participate passionately for the sake of the good feelings and excitement experienced. If this happens our worship is idolatrous.  Every week the kids are reminded that the purpose of this portion of our time together is to exalt God through the words we say and the movement of the bodies he made.  We have a great time, but that is not the reason we sing and dance.  Leaders circulate throughout this time reminding kids why they are singing and redirecting their focus onto God.

  • Central to every Treehouse Kids service is a Bible story.  We focus on biblical narratives.  Bible stories are presented creatively using visual art, drama and storytelling.  Life principles from the bible stories are reinforced during this time, using literature, object lessons, historical events, relevant video clips, dramatic sketches, and more.

  • Each week children close out their service by learning a bible memory verse together.  Verses are taught through repetition, motion, games, etc.  The goal is that student leave with the scripture written on their hearts.
